About
More specifically, this is a memorial to 413 missing US servicemen and women who were buried at sea in the Pacific coastal waters during World War II. Their names are carved on the wall, and these fallen soldiers are not commemorated anywhere else in the country. Many of them would have embarked to the Pacific Theater of war from departure points in the Presidio.
As the evening sun hits the white granite and its towering statue, the opportunity for quiet reflection (and some good photos) is definitely enhanced.
